Classic Mountain Runs - 2 Days - Snowdonia
Time & Location
About the event:
Over these two days, we will be running over some of the most famous mountains and trails in Snowdonia. We will be covering ground that is covered on renowned races like The Dragons Back, The Snowdon Skyline and the Paddy Buckley Round. If you only ever run in Snowdonia once, then these are the 2 routes that you MUST DO!
These routes are suitable for those with trail running experience and a good level of fitness. This is not a weekend for beginners. These routes are a step up from your normal trail runs so you need to be confident on your feet and happy with heights. They are truly adventurous mountain days - ones that you will always remember!
How it works:
Day 1: Saturday
Meet at in the Nant Peris Park and Ride car park at 9am ready to run. We will have a quick chat about the day, check kit and answer any last min questions before taking the Serpa bus up to Pen y Pass ready to start our run.
Today we will be running the uber classic Snowdon Hourseshoe. This route goes via the infamous Crib Goch, around to the Summit of Snowdon and down over Lliwedd, before circling back around to Llyn Llydaw where those who fancy a wild swim can cool off in the stunning mountain lake.
We will then head back to Pen y Pass and take the bus back down the valley to Nant Peris.
Day 2: Sunday
Today we will take on probably the second most famous mountain in Snowdonia, Tryfan!
We will meet at 9am in the Ogwen Valley and head for the hills shortly after. Today's route takes us up the mighty North Ridge of Tryfan and, like on Crib Goch, requires the use of your hands and a bit of scrambling. From Tryfan we will head into the Glyders and onto Y Garn where we will get stunning views back towards Snowdon.
Travel and Accommodation:
Getting there by car - you will need a car for this weekend as we will be starting from a different location on each day.
Accommodation: In light of the current climate regarding Covid-19 I have decided to not include group accommodation in the cost of this camp (in fact it is almost impossible to book group accommodation currently). This gives you the freedom to stay in the type of accommodation that you would most prefer as well as not having to share with other unknown guests. This also gives you the chance to extend your stay if you wish.
The town of Llanberis is placed between the starting point for each day and is the best option for accommodation in the area. You will find everything from campsites to hotels. Please get in touch if you struggle to find and suitable accommodation and I will be happy to help out where I can.
Running shoes (something with a good tread designed for off-road running), waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, running pack with the ability to carry 1 litre of water plus spare layers, hat, gloves, spare warm layer, trail snacks, mobile phone (with a waterproof bag/cover … just in case!). For sunny forecasts, a cap and sunglasses might be handy.
- 2 days of guided running with an experienced and fully qualified running guide and coach. I guarantee to take you on the best trails in the area!
- Sports Nutrition/hydration Products from partners to help fuel your runs
- One to one caching and advice to help take your running to the next level
